This stump was created for the purpose of displaying previously acquired raccoon mounts. The construction was a little tricky as it had to be built on the ground but sit on an angled shelf when finished.
A thin 4’x8’ sheet of luan plywood was used to form the framework. I sprayed the plywood with water for several days while forcing it to bend almost into a circle. Cross supports were cut and screwed on the inside to retain the shape. I left approximately a fourth of the display flat on the backside to allow it to fit against the wall. The outer surface and roots were made with dextrin, plaster, and burlap.
